Modern Love is the story of Xerox operator, Robin, who falls in love with a sleazy show business type named Lamont Del Monte. Their disastrous love affair is paralleled by a frustrating relationship between Heidi (who only speaks German) and Pierre (who only speaks French).

Modern Love is an ad-libbed three-part tape about Robin, a Xerox operator in the Toronto Dominion Centre. Born a suburbanite, but a downtown girl at heart, Robin discovers post-punk nightlife and Lamont Del Monte on the same evening. Robin falls for Lamont’s transparently sleazy show-biz lines, and as a result, loses her heart, her job, her apartment and a great deal of her innocence. Robin’s indomitable optimism remains intact, however, and a new ambition is nurtured: to break into show biz herself. Robin and Lamont’s love affair is paralleled by a frustrating relationship between Heidi (who speaks only German), and Pierre (who speaks only French). The star-crossed lovers are all cross-dressed, except Lamont, whose wardrobe is a purée of all sexual preferences.” (“Colin Campbell Media Works” catalogue published by Winnipeg Art Gallery)
